What's the deal with the black stuff in the middle at the top of the tomato (upper right corner of the picture) and the dark seeds? Should I eat the tomato except for the black part at the top? What is it? Help quickly...the juicy redness of it is calling my name!
ETA- I ate it and it was heavenly.

Go ahead and eat it--I just cut out the dark parts. I've seen this in store-bought tomatoes, too, but I don't know what the dealio is.
